Broken: Time Warner Cable interstitial ad
Time Warner Cable's website presented me with this interstitial ad after I clicked on "Pay My Bill."
Making me look at an ad first in order for me to pay my bill is broken.
This is what happens when you don't pay your bill. They infest your internet, then your TV, then your mind. Broken!
It's weird that cable companies are all the sudden transferring to telephone as well. Sure, they want to make some more profit, but some people obviously don't want internet telephone because of their outage of service and paying for 911. Seriously? Paying? For an emergency? Ridiculous.
As for the ad, broken and guilty on all accounts:).
Unfortunately not all that uncommon.
I have to wade through a ton of crap every month when I open my Visa credit card bill. Bunches of offers and comeons for credit "insurance" and the like.
The most annoying are the flaps on the envelope itself that you have to tear off in order seal it.
If I didn't need a credit card for travel, I'd close the stupid account in a minute.
At least this ad makes sense in its context. It is saying, "are you tried of paying bills like these? Then get Internet phone and make long-distance calls for free!"
What annoys me much more are the ads that are totally irrelevant and just get in your way. Like when the first five hits for anything I search for are "Looking for ? We have lots of ! Come to to buy !"
Darn HTML tags...
What the last paragraph was trying to say was:
What annoys me much more are the ads that are totally irrelevant and just get in your way. Like when the first five hits for anything I search for are "Looking for (search term)? We have lots of (search term)! Come to (shopping website) to buy (search term)!"
Your honour, I clicked on "Pay My Bill," and this screen popped up that said "It's FREE!" in huge letters.
"Free firefox extension that blocks most banner ads!"
This is not a banner ad, it's an interstitial. Even if you used some software to block the image itself from displaying, you'd still have to click through the page to get to where you're trying to go.
"PayPal much?"
Well, with PayPal (fees aside) you're generally sending money to a third party. This ad appears when you're trying to give money directly to the company whose website you're on. So I get your point, but it seems like there's a distinction.

"Hi! We're not making enough money off of you, thanks! Have some annoyance."
There are some places ads shouldn't be.
