Broken: Quizno's store hours
Emily Tomkins submits a picture taken in Torrington, Connecticut:
The text on the door describes the hours to a Quizno's restaurant -
Monday-Thursday: 11:00am-9:00pm
Friday-Saturday: 11:00am-9:00pm
Sunday: 11:00 9:00pm
What is the reason for having three lines of text to describe the store hours when each line gives the same information?
It would have been more efficient and easier to read if the text said:
Open everyday, Sunday - Monday: 11:00 am - 9:00 pm.
Also, they forgot the "AM" and the "-" between 11:00 and 9:00 pm on Sunday.
My guess would be that they did that in case they decided to change the hours on one of those sets of days and didn't want to have to rearrange everything below it or something. Or maybe the hours were originally different on those sets but then they later changed them to all be the same but, again, didn't want to redo the whole door.
Seems obvious that the three-line approach is dictated by the corporate office, and that each store sets its own hours. If every store's hours looked like this, then broken; as it is, broken not so much.
Yes, the three line thing is broken, but so is your recommendation:
"Open everyday, Sunday - Monday: 11:00 am - 9:00 pm"
Does that mean open everyday, or just Sunday and Monday?
Actually, although amusing, I don't think this is broken. Does the three lines for times make your experience any worse? Are you going to spend the entire meal confused or unnerved by the sign?
This should go in Just for Fun, becuase that's really what it is. Not broken at all imho.
Exactly. It doesn't detract from the customer experience, and the store can easily change any of the three instead of the whole week at once.
This is probably a decal that included everything except the times. If you will notice, the times are not lined up and there is an AM missing. The hours are probably separate stickers that can be changed. What makes this broken? I have sent in many better broken examples and none have been used.
If you look closely its not one big decal. You cant see the edges of it like you would on most decals. The Creadit card part is one big decal. See the diffrence?
I agree with Pond. Fuzzy & Dennis...
While the previous entry (the emergency exit sign, missing the actual "you are here" icon), is really, really broken, this one is really not something I consider worthy of this site.
If you are actually able to get confused about their hours after looking at that sign, I would be concerned for you.
Does it look a bit sloppy, maybe, but I'd have to agree with those that give the idea that they didn't want to have to redo that entire portion of the sign, just because their hours were a little different.
not broken...
It would be broken to say it is open at the same time "everyday". It is "every day". "everyday" means "commonplace" or "quotidian".

Maybe some one should call that number and complain.
