Broken: Huahine bungalow sign
Michael A. Schulman submits a picture taken in Huahine, French Polynesia:
This was the sign directing us to our bungalow during our honeymoon.
Good thing there were only 40 rooms total. Why not just put them in order?
It may be broken or just one way to get you to slow down and enjoy your honeymoon. You did slow down and enjoy your honeymoon, right?
Am I the only person that realizes that there must be more than 40 rooms? Seeing that on the right, there is a 41. Maybe they skipped a number.
Broken. If you're in room 10 and starting reading from the left side of the sign, you'd see 3.12, and would go left. But you wouldn't find your room. You'd have to read the entire sign to figure out that 10.11 in the middle section (go straight ahead) overrides 3.12 in the left section.
And if you're in room 30, you'd have to read the entire sign to figure out that rooms 27 to 40 aren't even listed.
Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's the way the photo was taken (with a flash or something), but in addition to the 'order' being a total mess, the numbers themselves are hard to read. It's not so bad in the smaller photo cuz they're squished together, but in the bigger one, the gaps are enlarged. They should've made each number one piece.
I think those are supposed to be commas, not periods- there's only one of each room, and some of the rooms are in locations not listed on the sign. The order is still broken, though.
It doesn't work as an informational sign but it is kind of cool as an artwork. I'd hang it on my deck!
"OMG, someone has stolen rooms 13 and 14!!!!!!!!

Wait...maybe the extra 10 and 11 should really be 13 and 14?

"
Umm most resorts/hotels etc skip 13 due to people with superstitions. no 13th floor or rooms usually..
But there also is apparently another sign somewhere too
the only numbers I see are
1,2,3,4,9,10,11,12,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,25,26,41

1. Because they're French.
2. Maybe the bungalows were created near the water, then gradually more were built inland, without bothering to renumber the huts. I saw the same thing in Moorea.
