Broken: Amazon sports e-mail
Seth posted a bulk e-mail he got from Amazon:
Subject: [placeholder for winning team] Wins the NCAA Tournament
Dear Amazon.com Customer,
Congratulations, [placeholder for winning team]! As someone who has purchased...
See the original post: Go Placeholders!! Defense, defense.
Actually they did choose the wrong team. The subject of the email said that LA won. I saw the news article. DEWY beats TRUMEN.
That is same way my grandmother makes her letters. I've always wondered if she had ever sent one out that did not have the forms filled in correctly...
ps third :)
I saw that email. There were two [placeholder for winning team]s, one in the subject and one in the body, and one "UCLA WINS!" in big letters at the top. The weird thing was that they sent it out before the game actually took place.
My mom worked for a company named "Schneider Sheet Metal" they would get this, "Mr. Schneider Sheet Me, You may already be a millionaire."
Actually, i saw a screen shot of one that said "UCLA WINS!"
That supports my theory that Amazon.com exists in a mirror image of our universe where up is down, cats chase dogs, and... I can't think up a witty end to that joke right now.
"a mirror image of our universe where up is down, cats chase dogs, and.."
... where people wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people - (ref: Lisa Simpson explaining Rand McNally to Bart)

My favorite was always "Dear [Name], ..."
How sincere... this one's just as good, though. It would be even better if they put in the wrong team name.
