Broken: BestBuy.com menu
Guy Mann points out this page on the BestBuy.com website, which lists products in a menu:
Linksys W...
Linksys W...
Linksys W...
Linksys W...
I suppose it means
Linksys Wireless Routers
Linksys Wireless Rooters
Linksys Wyreless Routers
Linksys Wireliss Routers
Linksys Wyrmless Routers
Linksys Werewolf Renting
...

Broken: You
Jello B. points out the fact
that you're an idiot.

That goes straight to the page so you don't have to click "See Hot Offers" or whatever...
they're different models. like if it was a car website and it said
Scion X...
Scion X...
you would be stupid enough to think that they were the same but if you clicked on them you would see that its Scion XA and Scion XB
if anything is broken its YOU
Ah, metalhead, so making it impossible to know what you're choosing from a pull down menu isn't broken?
So, metalhead, I'm dealing with Linksys WA, Linksys WB, Linksys WC, etc.? The menu doesn't show the model names and they probably won't be conveniently predictable, either!
They are all different models of Linksys routers, such as WRT54G. Still broken though, Best Buy needs to change where the ... begins.
You can tell from the options on the bottom of the page what the entries in the list PROBABLY are, especially since the heading is "Browse by Category". But it doesn't cahange the fact that it's VERY BROKEN. This is the most clearly broken thing on the site in a while.
Are you all broken?
You can tell where the links go by clicking on them...
Linksys Wireless Desktop Cards
Linksys Wireless Notebook CardsLinksys Wireless Routers
Linksys Wireless Print Servers
Linksys Wired Desktop Cards
Linksys Wired Notebook Cards
Linksys Wired Routers
Linksys Wired Switches and Hubs
Linksys Wired Print Servers
Linksys Multimedia Networking
Linksys Gaming
Linksys Broadband Phone Devices
Linksys Accessories
Linksys Special Offers
What's really broken is that the last 4:
Linksys Gaming
Linksys Broadband Phone Devices
Linksys Accessories
Linksys Special Offers
...are not available from either...
Linksys Wired Print Servers
Linksys Multimedia Networking
...and that I have the time to spend looking at this...
Now that's broken.
brian, I don't want to spend all that time clicking on links, waiting for a page to load, clicking back, and trying again repeatedly. I want to be able to see what the link I'm clicking on is.
For example, do you trust this? This page takes you to a page about k...
http://www.petebevin.com/kittens/
Sure, you could open the page to see what it is about, but that could be either pictures of kittens going through surgery or pictures of kittens playing outside. You don't know which it is, and checking it isn't very appealing.
That is the same situation with the pull down menu. The thought of checking out a list of links without any guarantee of success will drive away many potential customers.
Hey Kevin, do you like The Giver a lot or what? I hadda read it in eighth grade, and i didn't like it. Probably because i was done with it while the rest of the class was on chapter three. Oh well.
wow. quite often, there's stuff here thta seems debatable. but the people claiming this isn't broken simply can't be serious. either that, or they're utterly insane. or working for linksys.
Ok, apparantly Best Buy and their "computer saavy" Geek Squad have no clue about designing web sites. That's a comforting thought.
Bob, I made the web page for a project while my class was reading the book in 7th grade. Yes, I do like The Giver. Incidentally, corresponding with each other via TIB is , ironically, broken.
In fact, its as broken as Best Buy's website. :)

Looks like they really want you to buy from those guys. I'd say an obvious attempt at assuring that.
By the way: FIRST!
Sorry, I had to do that. =P
