Broken: New York potholes
My friend Andrew Rasiej, who's running for Public Advocate in NYC, has started a "This Is Broken"-like site - WeFixNYC - where New York residents can send in pictures of potholes, and the location - and they'll be posted on the site with Google Maps providing location data.
I'll tell you what's broken here, New York City residents.
What a bunch of whiners. Shut up and enjoy the bumpy ride.
I think that web site is broken... when I click on one of the little red 'pushpins', it zooms into an area that doesn't look like Manhattan at all.
A good idea if their is follow up. But with political situations we know how often that happens. The odds of the potholes being fixed is directly proportional to the amount of time away from election time.
the only thing broken here is the committ posted by whinemuch, have you ever been to new york...?other then that its acully an old idea that they kicked around for years
We have something similar here in Toronto (Canada) called 'The Fixer'. Except it's not run by the politicians, it's run by the major newspaper. It's a column in the paper with readers who write in about something broken. 2 million people read it, and the city is shamed into fixing it promptly. It works well.
This WeFixNYC website is a good example of something that is broken or at the very least very ineffective for what they claim to be offering. Has anyone been able to figure out how to actually view one of these potholes?
