Broken: Czech escalator sign
I saw these signs in a subway in Prague, Czech Republic. The left sign says: "The escalator is started automatically by stepping on
it."The right sign says: "No entry to a stopped escalator."
In London we have a convention of walking on the left of an escalator, and standing on the right.
I was therefore trying to decipher the images with what side should I stand/walk on.
But even with the explanation I'm more confused, if an escalator is started by stepping on it, surely it's stopped before it starts?
The green sign means GO, the red sign means STOP - a lot of escalators in at least Germany are able to go both ways, depending on how they're switched. So, if you walk towards the escalator and see the red sign (which is usually clearly visible), it will not go in your direction, if it shows the green sign with an arrow, you're good to go.
I included a few links:

See the light on the right side? That's either the Go or Stop light.

Yes, Martin is right.
These signs are description of color lights on escalators.

No, the one on the right surely means "No pageant winners allowed on the escalator". :)
