Broken: No Parking signs
I took this picture in Monrovia, California. I did park there. I didn't get a ticket. I don't know why.
They should have removed the old 3 Hour Parking Sign, but I get the impression that these signs might have been temporary, for a festival or something. A bit confusing, but not THAT confusing.
I suspect that the little "end" sign indicates that the signs below it (above the "begin" sign) indicate the parking "regulations" for the curb in front of the sign post. The "begin" indicates that the signs below it apply after the sign post.
The sign indicates that the top parking regulations end at the sign, while the bottom regulations begin at the sign. It's not hard to figure out, provided one can read.
Most cities put an arrow on the sign either pointing right (for before the sign) or left (for after it) to indicate what part of the street the parking rule applies to.
You didn't get the ticket because you were not there on friday and during the times posted.
You really have to read those times and dates.
As a rule it's three hour parking and they mean it. The signs are not temporary they are for two different times of the day and different days of the week.
Monrovia is very good about giving parking tickets. They rarely miss. They have metermaids
They are writing their little hearts out. Actually they don't write it, it's computerized they have a hand held machine which does it all.
If you were there on friday after 5pm then consider yourself very lucky.
Days and times.
