A similar Toastmaster - possibly the same model - features a pull-out liner which is supposed to make cleaning easier. Unfortunately, the wire rack is very tightly fit into this liner so trying to slide the rack out to get your toast means that the whole liner comes out. I called customer dis-service at Toastmaster to inquire about this. Their response was "Oh, that's the way we meant it to be". Too late to take it back for a refund, too expensive to throw away, I gave it to the wife's kid.

I had an older model of this thing. The lack of a bell when done drove me crazy, but I eventually accepted it and moved on since all toasters now are silent, even the digital computer controlled ones.

So I got used to not expecting to hear a bell.

This came in handy when a friend decided to make some toast. She put it in there and turned the knob and announced that toast was coming. When 3 minutes later, no ding, well that was to be expected since they don't ding no more. After ten minutes, the toast caught on fire, melted the oven, and caught the kitchen on fire. We were able to put it out but it caused a bit of damage and risked the lives of many people in the apartment building I lived in.

The design of the toaster remains the same many years later. Other toasters have copied the functions. Toasters do not ding and turning a knob to make toast can result in the house being burned down.

Last night I put 3 breadsticks in to toast. When the light went off (signaling they were done) I opened the door and the glass exploded all over the kitchen, showering me with burning chunks of safety glass. I have several burns on my feet and in my brand new kitchen floor. The service call center was very nice when I called and explained it to them, and assured me it would be dealt with within 24 hours. Have very many others experienced this?

Yes! The glass door on our Toastmaster toaster oven model TTOB4RL exploded last week. My husband had just asked me if the toast is done, and I was about to turn around to peer into the oven when I heard an explosion. After I saw (on Amazon.com reviews) that Toastmaster had already been informed of this danger, I felt furious, and that's how I feel right now. I wrote them an email on 1/16 with the heading EXTREME DANGER TO THE PUBLIC (no reply). I submitted a report to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission today, and I hope others have and will do the same. (It's an easy online form.) I'm sickened to think that my little boy (or anyone) could have been blinded and/or burned by a shard of blistering hot glass!! It's unconscionable that they didn't issue a recall years ago when the first person alerted them to the danger. Please spread the word, everyone, that this product is DANGEROUS. I will not rest until this product is recalled and the company held responsible.
