Broken: Magazine subscription card
Paul Schreiber sends in his coworker's rant:
Both these subscription cards came from two copies of the June 2003 issue of MacWorld magazine.Broken: Penalizing repeat customers. The top one ($34.97/year) was in the issue I subscribe to.
The bottom one ($19.97/year) was in the newsstand issue.
If you look at the top one, it's $34.97 for one year and for the stand, $35.97 for two years. Duh! Don't you read!
Well apparently YOU can't read:
The top one:
2 years: 59.97
1 year: 34.97
The bottom:
2 years: 35.97
1 year: 19.97
For one dollar more, you can get another year from the newsstands

This has been a staple of the magazine business for at least 40 years. The solution is simple. Don't renew, become a new subscriber every year! It's even cheaper when you do via Publisher's Clearing House or similar sweepstakes type operations...
