Thank you for this. Many gurus tell us if we design our sites properly, we shouldn't need FAQ sections, which is utterly ridiculous. The FAQ section can be one of the first places people go to get immediate answers to a pressing question, or direction on where to go next, much like the information booth in a store. But, you have to "staff" the information booth properly, as this article points out. I.e., listen to users to find out what they want to know, and make sure the FAQs answers that.
