The Danish experience
Jun 1, 2006
A few quick thoughts from an extra-small hotel room in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I've had an outstanding week of friends (old & new), food, and euroGel preparations - capping the week with a talk on bit literacy at my friends Thomas & Nikolaj's Reboot 8 conference (reboot.dk). Reboot 3 was my first introduction to Copenhagen and it was great to see it again five years later.
(Thanks to Lars Plougmann for the mind map of my talk!)
Certain aspects of Danish culture capture the spirit of "good experience" - attention to quality, an attitude about life and work that's refreshingly free of cynicism and irony, respect for the past and enthusiasm for the future - and just plain friendly people. (The Danes also happen to be very good at design, but I'm here because of the overall experience - including, yes, design as just one element.)
It's natural, then, that Copenhagen should host a new European conversation, and community, about good experience. I look forward to seeing participants from across Europe, and the world, signing up in the next two weeks (indeed we have three continents already represented in the attendee list!) before the June 12 price jump: Sign up here.
For now, back to New York...
